The Symbol of Tibet

Perched on the peak of Hongshan in Lhasa urban area, the Potala Palace is the most representative building in Tibet and also the highest palace architectural complex in the world in terms of altitude. Integrating palaces, castles and monasteries, it presents a stunningly magnificent momentum with its red-and-white appearance. This great building was first constructed in the 7th century AD and carries the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Tibetan ethnic group. Inside the palace, there are a vast number of exquisite Buddha statues, colorful murals, and numerous Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, making it a well-deserved World Cultural Heritage site.
